Our methodology
Visa requirements are sensitive information: one error can cost a trip. Here is, in full transparency, how our data is collected, cross-checked and verified — and where our guarantees end.
No data is written by hand or freely generated by an AI. Every piece of information comes from an identified source, stored with its URL and collection date:
- The visa policies documented on Wikipedia (one per destination country), automatically parsed and cross-checked against each other — they provide the entry regime (exemption, visa on arrival, e-visa, consular visa) for every nationality.
- Official government e-visa portals (India, Turkey, Kenya, Saudi Arabia, US ESTA, Canadian eTA, etc.) for exact fees, official processing times and direct links to application forms.
- The fee schedules published by the ministries of foreign affairs and immigration bureaus of nearly 100 destinations: long-stay, work, study and retirement visa types, with fees and required documents.
- The passport-index database, used solely as a counter-check to detect gaps between our entry regimes and an independent reference.
Before being published, every data point goes through several systematic checks:
- Provenance-based confidence score: information confirmed by an official source or by two concordant sources is marked as verified. A single source is flagged as such; contradictory sources block publication until resolved.
- Freshness decay: the last-verification date is stored for every record, and data not re-verified within 6 months loses its priority status until its next check.
- Automatic divergence detection: a recurring check compares prices and entry regimes across sources. Any significant gap (a fee that shifts sharply, a regime contradicting another source) is flagged and reviewed before publication.
- Full audit trail: every change to the database is recorded (source, date, diff). This log is publicly available on our updates page.
Scripts are not enough. The fees and document lists of the main destinations are manually checked against the official pages of the relevant governments, and the gaps flagged by automated checks are resolved by a human — never applied blindly. Last manual verification campaign: July 2026.
- Visa policies change fast — sometimes overnight, without notice. Despite regular re-verification, a delay may exist between a regulatory change and its reflection here.
- Our information is provided for guidance only. Only the embassy or consulate of the destination country is authoritative: always verify with official sources before booking or travelling.
- Every visa page shows a “Data verified on …” badge: it is the date of the last successful check for that destination. The more recent it is, the more reliable the data.
Spotted outdated or inaccurate information? Tell us: every report is checked against the official source and corrected when needed. It is the most useful contribution you can make to the reliability of this site.
