United Kingdom e-Visa for citizens of Cyprus: online application, fees and processing time 2026

A Cypriot passport does not exempt you from all formalities: an ETA, an electronic travel authorisation, must be granted before departure. It is not a traditional visa and no appointment is needed, but it is mandatory for a tourist stay of up to 6 months. Airlines check it before boarding.

The official fee recorded is 20 GBP per application. You need a valid passport (an identity card is not accepted for this process), an email address to receive the decision, a payment card and a recent photo of your face. Minors need their own authorisation, which a parent or guardian can apply for on their behalf. The official information page sets out any additional requirements.

Log on to the official UK government portal (GOV.UK) or the official app it recommends. Enter your passport details, add a photo of the identity page and a photo of your face, answer the questions about your background and pay the fee. Websites offering to “help” with the application are not official and often charge well above the public rate.

The regime follows your nationality, not where you live. If you reside in Cyprus but travel on another country's passport, the rule on this page is not yours. Filing usually still happens from your country of residence, at the post competent for it, but the requirement itself comes from your passport.

The recorded processing time is 3 business days. Apply as soon as your dates are set rather than at the last minute, since an incomplete application or an additional check can delay the answer. Save the confirmation email and make sure the passport listed is the one you will carry.

Travelling with only a national identity card does not allow entry to the United Kingdom under this process. Other travellers pay an intermediary website instead of using the official portal, mistype their passport number or renew their passport after applying without requesting a new authorisation. Finally, the 6-month stay should not be confused with the validity of the ETA.
