What changed in 2026
Thailand. From 15 July 2024, nationals of 93 countries and territories could enter Thailand visa-free for 60 days, including Mexico, Colombia, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Guatemala, Panama and Uruguay (list published by Thai consulates). Since 15 September 2026, the exemption is limited to 60 countries and territories for 30 days, and these eight countries are no longer on it: their nationals now need an e-visa. Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Peru remain exempt.
United States. Since June 2025 (Presidential Proclamation 10949), the United States has fully restricted the entry of Haitian nationals and partially restricted that of Cubans and Venezuelans, for whom tourist and business (B-1/B-2), student and exchange visas are suspended, with exceptions set out in the text. The December 2025 proclamation, in force since 1 January 2026, maintains these restrictions. In this ranking, the United States therefore counts in no category for these three passports.
The e-visa, the real way in for the bottom of the table
Our score does not count e-visas, because they must be obtained before departure. Yet they matter a great deal for the passports at the bottom of the table: a Haitian can reach 62 destinations with an e-visa, almost twice the 34 reachable without a prior visa; a Cuban, 53 against 48. For Brazil, e-visas add 43 destinations.
Latin America's top passport remains far from the world's top three on this measure: Singapore (152), the United Arab Emirates (149) and South Korea (146). Our world passport ranking also counts e-visas.
Methodology
Data as of 28 October 2026. For each passport, we take the short-stay tourist regime of 198 destinations: visa-free, visa on arrival, e-visa (including electronic travel authorisations) or visa required before departure. These regimes come from the visa policies documented on Wikipedia, cross-checked against the official lists published by 143 governments and corrected from the official source where it differs. These are the same figures as on our passport pages. The quarterly edition of our world ranking, frozen on 15 October 2026, was computed before our latest corrections: it will be updated in January 2027. Entry rules change: always check with the embassy or the destination's official website before travelling.
