United Kingdom e-Visa for citizens of Greece: online application, fees and processing time 2026

No consular visa, but a mandatory formality: the ETA, an electronic travel authorisation granted online by the British authorities. It covers a short tourist stay of up to 6 months and must be obtained before departure: without it, boarding may be refused. For any other purpose of stay, check on the official page which process applies.

The published fee is the government charge alone. Two or three other lines are added before the visa is in the passport, and they are what makes the final bill.

The official fee recorded is 20 GBP per traveller. Prepare a valid passport, a recent photo of your face, an email address and a payment card. Children must also have their own ETA. You must enter the traveller’s identity and contact details, photograph the passport identity page, provide a photo of your face, answer questions about your background and then pay. Unofficial sites offering the same process add unjustified fees: always check the website address.

The regime follows your nationality, not where you live. If you reside in Greece but travel on another country's passport, the rule on this page is not yours. Filing usually still happens from your country of residence, at the post competent for it, but the requirement itself comes from your passport.

The recorded processing time is 3 business days. Apply for the ETA when you buy your tickets, or earlier, to keep a margin in case an additional check is needed. The decision arrives by email: check that the name and passport number are correct, and apply again if you change passports before the trip.

Common mistakes: travelling with only an identity card, travelling with a passport different from the one declared, or paying an intermediary far more than the official 20 GBP.
