Lebanese citizens need a Temporary Resident (visitor) Visa to travel to Canada. Lebanon is not eligible for the eTA (electronic travel authorization).
For a tourist trip or a family visit to Canada, Lebanese travellers must obtain a visitor visa issued by IRCC. The application is online, followed by a biometrics appointment at a Visa Application Centre (VAC). We do not state a fee: refer to canada.ca for the current charges.
Do you need a visa?
Yes. Holders of a Lebanese passport cannot travel on an eTA alone: they must obtain a Temporary Resident Visa, also called a visitor visa. This visa covers tourism, family visits and short business trips.
How and where to apply
Lebanese applicants create an account on the IRCC portal (canada.ca) and submit their application online. After receiving the biometrics instruction letter, they book an appointment to provide fingerprints and a photo at the Visa Application Centre (VAC) run by VFS Global in Beirut. Supporting documents are uploaded during the online application.
Documents and fees
Prepare a valid passport, the application form, compliant photos, proof of funds, an itinerary and an invitation letter if applicable, plus documents showing your ties to Lebanon (employment, family, property). We do not publish an amount: the visa fee and biometrics fee are listed on canada.ca and must be paid online.
Processing and tips
Processing times vary with demand and your profile; check IRCC's estimator tool and apply well ahead. A file showing strong ties to Lebanon and a clear intention to return strengthens the application. Provide biometrics promptly after the instruction letter to avoid delaying processing.
Common mistakes
Many refusals come from insufficient proof of funds or ties judged too weak to the home country. Do not assume eTA eligibility: it does not apply to Lebanese passports. Finally, do not book non-refundable flights before the visa is granted, and verify the exact fee amount on canada.ca.
