In short

Lebanese nationals must obtain a Schengen short-stay visa (Type C) before travelling to Norway for tourism.

Lebanon is not among the countries exempt from the Schengen visa. Lebanese travellers file a Type C Schengen visa application with the Norwegian mission or its service provider (VFS Global) in Lebanon before departure. The visa allows stays of up to 90 days in any 180-day period across the Schengen area.

Do you need a visa?

Yes. Lebanese citizens need a Schengen short-stay visa (Type C) for a tourist stay in Norway. Because Norway is part of the Schengen area without being an EU member, the same short-stay visa rules apply.

How and where to apply

Applicants book an appointment with the Norwegian Embassy or its partner application centre, VFS Global, in Beirut. The form is completed online, then in-person attendance is required to submit the file and give biometric fingerprints. Apply at most six months and at least 15 days before travel.

Documents and fees

Prepare a passport valid for at least three months beyond your planned departure, a signed form, a recent photo, a return flight reservation, proof of accommodation, financial evidence and travel medical insurance covering at least €30,000. The visa fee is generally €90 for an adult, excluding the service provider's fee.

Processing and tips

Processing usually takes 15 to 45 days, so plan ahead, especially during the summer peak. If Norway is your main destination or first point of entry, apply to the Norwegian authorities, and keep a full copy of your application.

Common mistakes

Refusals often stem from insufficient insurance, weak financial evidence or applying to the wrong Schengen country. Do not book non-refundable tickets before the visa is granted, and check the exact fee and document list on the official source.
