In short

Moroccan citizens must obtain an Electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA) before travelling to Kenya. It is applied for online before departure.

Kenya has replaced its traditional visa with an Electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA) that is now mandatory for almost all visitors, including Moroccan nationals. The application is completed entirely online, on the official portal, before boarding. Your Moroccan passport must be valid for at least six months.

Do you need a visa?

Yes, in the form of an eTA. Moroccan travellers must obtain this electronic authorisation before entering Kenya, regardless of the point of arrival. The former visa on arrival has been replaced by this online system, which must be requested before departure.

How and where to apply

The application is made on the official Kenya eTA portal (etakenya.go.ke). You create an account, complete the form, upload your passport and a photo, then pay the fee online. The approved authorisation is emailed to you and must be presented to Kenyan immigration.

Documents and fees

Prepare a Moroccan passport valid for at least six months, a recent photo, your flight itinerary and an address of accommodation in Kenya. The fee amount and the eTA validity period should be confirmed on the official portal before payment.

Processing and tips

Submit your application at least a few business days before travelling, as processing is not instant. A yellow-fever vaccination certificate may be required depending on your routing, so check this requirement before departure. Keep a digital copy of the approved eTA.

Common mistakes

Do not assume a visa on arrival: it no longer exists for Kenya. Enter your details exactly as they appear on your passport and use only the official government portal, avoiding third-party sites that overcharge for the eTA.
