Visa for Belgium from Mongolia: price, documents and processing time 2026

Yes. For a tourist stay of under 90 days, Mongolian citizens must apply for a Schengen Type C visa before departure. Belgium must be your main destination (where you spend the most nights) or your first point of entry into the Schengen area. The visa is valid throughout the Schengen countries.

The published fee is the government charge alone. Two or three other lines are added before the visa is in the passport, and they are what makes the final bill.

Applicants resident in Mongolia apply to the Belgian embassy or consulate responsible for their region, or to the external visa centre (VFS Global, BLS or TLScontact) appointed by Belgium. Processing usually takes 15 to 45 days. Lodge your file no earlier than six months and no later than 15 days before departure. Request a validity slightly longer than your actual stay and keep a copy of every document. A complete, consistent file (dates, accommodation, finances) sharply reduces the risk of refusal.

The most frequent mistakes are applying through the wrong Schengen country when Belgium is not the main destination, buying insufficient insurance (below €30,000), presenting a passport with too little validity, or booking non-refundable tickets before the visa is granted.
