In short

Visa required — unless you hold a US, Canada, UK, Japan or Schengen visa

The Tunisian passport normally requires a visa for Mexico. But Mexico's exemption rule is very generous: with a valid visa from a major country, you do NOT need a Mexican visa.

The exemption that changes everything

Any traveller, regardless of nationality, is exempt from a Mexican visa if they hold a valid visa for the United States, Canada, Japan, the United Kingdom or a Schengen country — tourist stays of up to 180 days. Permanent residence in those countries grants the same right. Note: only visas stamped in the passport (or permanent-resident cards) count.

If you apply for a consular visa

Without a third-country visa, you need a Mexican consular visa. Mexico's electronic authorization (SAE) does NOT cover Tunisians (it is limited to Russia, Türkiye and Ukraine). As Mexico has no embassy in Tunisia, the application is handled by the Mexican Embassy in Algiers (concurrent accreditation).

Documents and health

Passport valid for the duration of stay (allow 6 months), proof of return ticket and funds. All visitors complete the FMM form on arrival. Mexico requires no yellow-fever certificate.

Best time to travel

The climate in Mexico varies by region, but generally, the dry season from November to April offers favorable travel conditions. The months from May to October correspond to the rainy season, with more frequent showers and higher temperatures, which may affect travel comfort.

Main arrival airports

The main international airports in Mexico are Mexico City International Airport, Cancún International Airport, and Guadalajara International Airport. These airports handle most international flights and serve as primary entry points for travelers.

Documents to prepare

Travelers should have a valid passport for the duration of their stay, along with a consular visa obtained prior to departure from the Mexican embassy or consulate. It is also recommended to carry proof of return tickets, travel insurance, and supporting documents for accommodation or financial means.
