Nationals of Suriname must obtain a Temporary Resident Visa (visitor visa) before travelling to Canada. Suriname is not eligible for the eTA (electronic Travel Authorization).
Suriname is not on Canada's visa-exempt list and does not have access to the electronic Travel Authorization reserved for visa-exempt air travellers. Surinamese travellers must therefore apply for a visitor visa with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) before departure. The process is mostly online and includes a biometrics step.

Yes. Citizens of Suriname need a Temporary Resident Visa, commonly called a visitor visa, for any tourist stay in Canada. This document must be obtained before you board your flight — without it you will be denied boarding. The eTA is not an option for Surinamese passport holders.

Apply online through the IRCC portal on canada.ca. After creating an account and submitting your form, you will receive instructions to give your biometrics (fingerprints and photo) at a Visa Application Centre (VAC). Because there may be no VAC in Suriname, check the nearest competent centre listed by IRCC.
