Do I need a visa for Indonesia from Estonia?

Discover visa requirements for your trip

In short

Yes, a visa is required but a light one: Estonian nationals normally obtain a Visa on Arrival (VoA) in Indonesia, or arrange it online in advance as an e-VOA.

Estonia, an EU member state, does not get full visa-free access to Indonesia, but its nationals qualify for the Visa on Arrival. For Bali, Jakarta or elsewhere, you can pay the VoA at the counter on arrival or apply for the e-VOA online before departure. This guide covers both routes, the documents and the extension.

Do you need a visa for Indonesia?

Yes, in a lighter form. Estonian citizens are not fully visa-exempt, but they are among the nationalities eligible for the Visa on Arrival (VoA), also available as an e-VOA and, for other purposes, via the e-Visa. The tourist VoA is a paid visa, distinct from a free entry, obtained on arrival or online before you travel.

VoA on arrival or e-VOA online

Both options lead to the same visa. On arrival, head to the "Visa on Arrival" desk at eligible airports and seaports (Bali-Denpasar, Jakarta…) and pay the fee before immigration. Online, apply for the e-VOA in advance on the official portal molina.imigrasi.go.id: account, passport details, photo and bio-data page uploaded, payment by card, then delivery by e-mail. In Bali's high season, the e-VOA saves time at the counter.

Documents and fees

Have an Estonian passport valid for at least 6 months on entry, with blank pages, and a return or onward ticket. Payment is by card for the e-VOA, or on the spot for the classic VoA. As the amount and validity can change, check the current fee on molina.imigrasi.go.id (or evisa.imigrasi.go.id for another visa type) before paying: we do not publish a figure here to avoid quoting outdated information.

Length of stay, timing and tips

The tourist VoA and e-VOA generally allow a 30-day stay, extendable once by 30 days, for 60 days in total. The extension is requested from Indonesian immigration or online according to the rules in force; plan it several days before expiry. Tip: prepare the e-VOA a few days before leaving so you land in Bali with the document already in hand.

Common mistakes and good to know

Do not treat the VoA as an exemption: Estonia qualifies for the paid version. Check that your nationality remains on the VoA eligibility list before relying on it. Watch for overstaying, penalised with a daily fine, and for passport validity: less than 6 months on entry means refusal, even with a valid e-VOA.
