Do I need a visa for Indonesia from Egypt?
Discover visa requirements for your trip
Egyptian travellers need a visa for Indonesia; the official e-Visa, requested online before departure, is the most convenient form.
An Egyptian passport alone is not enough to enter Indonesia: a tourist visa is required to visit Bali, Jakarta or the temples of Java. The procedure is now electronic, on the Directorate General of Immigration's e-Visa portal. Some airports offer a visa on arrival, but an e-Visa requested from Egypt provides more peace of mind.
Do you need a visa?
Yes. Egyptian nationals must obtain a visa before travelling to Indonesia for tourism. The standard option is the electronic e-Visa, requested online. At major entry points such as Denpasar or Jakarta a visa on arrival may also be issued, but an e-Visa prepared in advance reduces the risk of being turned back.
How and where to apply
From Cairo, Alexandria or Giza, the application is submitted entirely online at evisa.imigrasi.go.id. You create an account, complete the form, upload your documents and pay with an international bank card. The e-Visa is then sent by email, with no visit to the Indonesian embassy in Cairo.
Documents and fees
Prepare an Egyptian passport valid for at least six months beyond arrival, a compliant passport photo, a scan of the bio page and an internationally accepted online payment method. A return ticket and proof of accommodation may be required. The fee amount and validity period are not confirmed here — refer to the official portal.
Processing and tips
Our source does not guarantee a specific processing time, so submit your request several days before your flight out of Egypt. Make sure your card supports international payments, a sensitive point for Egyptian applicants. Keep the e-Visa printed and on your phone throughout the stay.
Common mistakes
Do not treat visa on arrival as guaranteed: it depends on the entry point and on conditions that can be revised. Beware of unofficial sites charging inflated fees; only evisa.imigrasi.go.id is authoritative. A passport with less than six months' validity leads to an almost automatic refusal.
